The needs of the Turkish economy have led to the emergence of various foreign trade companies following the adoption of an export-based development model since the 1980s. These companies have gradually been organized and specialized in different sectors and have also been assigned by the government with the role of inspecting the exporters receiving VAT refunds. Since 2005, GİSAD has undergone a radical restructuring process to become a company providing a wide range of services to its partners from finance to infrastructure instead of remaining as a company dependent solely on VAT refunds. Today GİSAD Foreign Trade is distinguished from all others with its worldwide operations and financial support in addition to the inspection mechanism.
